A testimony from Kristin Laumann :

I was blessed to be born into a strong Christian family and brought up in the church knowing about God from an early age. I accepted Christ as a child, but I stopped going to church in my late teen years, and God stopped playing an important role in my life.

I started pursuing worldly desires that I thought would make me happy. I called on him in the hard times, but ignored him when I thought I could do it on my own.

This went on for 20 years and it wasn't until the end of 2020 when I was facing a very difficult time in my life that I found myself crying out to God to help me because I was lost and defeated. I felt God's presence stirring in my heart and realized that I needed to make some changes in my life.

I started looking for a church online and felt that Faith Community was where I belonged. The church was starting a new study called Growing Up Together, and I signed up to join a small group on Zoom.

Since I grew up in the church I knew all the bible stories you learn as a child and the fundamentals of what Christianity is, but I'd never really applied it to my own life. I didn't know how to grow as a Christian, but God knew exactly what I needed through discipleship from different members of my small group.

God placed me in a group with people who all had a gift for something that I needed to improve in like: strong prayer warriors who I watched and was able improve my prayer life, or those who have a heart for serving others which has led to me better serving the kingdom of God, and teaching me how to count my blessings and have a grateful heart, especially in the difficult time, and I have had many of those times since joining my small group.

I once heard that discipleship is like climbing a mountain, with you in the middle holding the hand of one person ahead of you in their walk with Christ pulling you along, and you holding the hand of a person behind you that you're able to mentor who you're a step ahead of.

Having strong Christian role models to disciple me in my walk with Christ has helped me grow far more than I could have ever done on my own. Being able to disciple and serve others has helped me find purpose in my life. Both have deepened my relationship with God.
